Bauman Zygmunt
Bauman Zygmunt (19 November 1925, Poznań – 09 January 2017, Leeds), sociologist.
In the years 1960–1968, he worked as editor-in-chief of Studia Socjologiczne. In 1961–1968, he was an associate professor at the University of Warsaw, and headed its Department of General Sociology in the Institute of Philosophy in the years 1962–1968. On 31 March 1968 he was dismissed from the position of associate professor by virtue of the decision of the Minister of Education. In the years 1963–1970, he was surveilled by the Security Service. He migrated from Poland in the aftermath of the March events.
