Bogucka Teresa Kinga

Bogucka Teresa Kinga (b. 5 April 1945, Zakopane), sociologist, theatre historian.

In the late 1960s, she studied at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Warsaw. She was a member of the so-called “commando.” She distributed materials published by Poles on emigration among other students at the university. In 1968, she collected signatures on the open letter against the ban on Dziady by Adam Mickiewicz, co-organised the rally at the University of Warsaw, and supervised the strike at the Faculty of Teacher Training. She was arrested in March 1968 and sentenced to 1.5 years in prison. She was released following the 1969 amnesty. She was relegated from the university. In 1969, she started to work at the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
