Kamińska Ida

Kamińska Ida (04 September 1899, Odessa – 21 May 1980, New York) – theatre and film actress, director and translator.

In 1948, she became the director of the Jewish Theatre in Łódź, and in 1949 – of the National Jewish Theatre. She directed numerous performances and created many memorable characters, iconic for the history of theatre. In the years 1964–1968, she was surveilled due to her contacts with the Israeli embassy and Jewish organisations from all over the world. She migrated from Poland in September 1968. She initially moved to Israel and eventually settled in the United States with her family.
