Melman Marian

Melman Marian (03 January 1900, Żółkiew – 30 September 1978, New York) – theatre actor and director, husband of Ida Kamińska.

He started to perform in the Jewish Theatre in Łódź in 1946, and later joined the theatre in Wrocław (in 1953) and the National Jewish Theatre in Warsaw (1955). In the years 1964–1968, he was surveilled due to his contacts with the Israeli embassy and Jewish organisations from all over the world. He migrated from Poland with his family in 1968. He initially moved to Israel and eventually settled in the United States.

Melman Marian

Baczko Bronisław (13 June 1924, Warsaw – 29 August 2016, Geneva), philosopher, expert in the history of social thought.

In 1952, he became an academic worker at the University of Warsaw, and in the years 1965–1968, he held the position of professor extraordinarius. In the aftermath of the March protests at the University of Warsaw, he was dismissed on 31 March 1968 by virtue of a decision made by the Minister of Higher Education. The same year, he was also removed from the Polish United Workers’ Party. He migrated from Poland in 1969.
