Michnik Adam

Michnik Adam (b. 27 October 1946, Warsaw), political activist, historian, journalist.

In 1958, he joined the “Walterowcy” Troops of the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association. In 1962, he co-founded the Klub Poszukiwaczy Sprzeczności (“Contradiction-Seekers’ Club”), a youth club dissolved in 1963. He was involved in the activities of the “revisionist” circles. He was one of the leaders of the opposition movement in the Polish People’s Republic – the so-called “commando.” He took part in the March 1968 student protests against the cancellation of Kazimierz Dejmek’s staging of Dziady by Adam Mickiewicz. He was relegated from the University of Warsaw and interned in the years 1968–1970.
